Programs

JumpStart International’s programs are designed to empower transitional communities to build peace, prosperity and mutual understanding through projects that offer hope and demonstrate tangible signs of progress so that people can overcome the effects of conflict, disaster, and poverty, live in dignity, and aspire to achieve their potential.

JumpStart focuses on the urgent need to provide a sense of normalcy and boost economic development. JumpStart supports social development through strengthening infrastructure and institutions critical to creating employment opportunities and encouraging the development of private enterprise. Our goal is to work with local communities to implement employment, training, and programs that provide working opportunities and promote economic self-sufficiency.

The initial phase of JumpStart programs focuses on immediate relief through projects which revitalize communities and build or rebuild community assets. The next phase encourages economic opportunity and prosperity through vocational and business training and the creation and stimulation of local businesses. The final phase provides for sustainability through turnover to local organizations or entrepreneurs.

JumpStart's current strategic objectives include:

1) Providing meaningful work and training opportunities for unemployed people,

2) Developing youth-focused development and skills training programs, and

3) Supporting business development through entrepreneurship and business skills programs.
